What Will I Learn?

By completing this course, participants will gain knowledge and understanding of:

  • The principles of manual handling and its associated risks
  • How the human body is affected by poor handling practices
  • Legal responsibilities of both employers and employees
  • Techniques to avoid unnecessary manual handling where possible
  • How to assess and manage manual handling tasks
  • Key factors: the task, the load, the environment, and individual ability
  • The correct use of handling aids and equipment
  • How to perform risk assessments and apply safe lifting techniques
  • The importance of posture, movement, and work planning
  • Environmental and organisational considerations to reduce injury

Interactive discussions and practical group work help reinforce the learning process.

Assessment 

Delegates will take part in group activities and complete a short multiple-choice test to confirm their understanding.

Certification

On successful completion, participants will be issued a certificate of training in manual handling awareness.
