This course is designed for delegates who supervise or participate in the use of abrasive wheels equipment, and provides the delegates with the necessary knowledge and understanding in relation to identification of hazards associated with abrasive wheels and the required control measures to develop a safe system of work.
Course Duration: 5 hours
On completion of the course, the delegate will have an understanding of the following:
• Explanation of the legal requirements governing abrasive wheels
• Understanding good machine safety
• Avoidance of injuries
• Recognition of potentially dangerous abrasive wheel operations.
• Safe use of machines
• Be able to identify specific hazards and Precautions to be taken.
• Be aware of employer and employee duties relating to application of safety controls.
• Be able to identify defective equipment or systems.
• Have sufficient knowledge and understanding to implement their duties relating to inspection and safe use of abrasive wheels equipment.
• Characteristics of an Abrasive Wheel and the Types.
• Marking of Abrasive Wheels.
• Storage and Handling.
• Personal Protective Equipment.
Assessment:
Classroom based training with a hands-on/practical demonstration of equipment and various techniques, and a multiple choice exam of 20 questions.
All delegates will receive an Abrasive Wheel Certificate valid for 3 years.
